Onto Amboseli

In the Mara, we stayed in a camp ran by the Maasai people. It was definitely an interesting experience, we felt like walking dollar signs as everyone wanted to sell us stuff. It was too bad as we really wanted to talk to the local people and get to know them, instead of just buying stuff from them... enough said. The campground featured a wood-heated shower which left you wondering if you were cleaner or dirtier after leaving it. We didn't really need to shower - it's not like we were able to exercise at all, and the weather was pretty cool.

The game drives in the park were amazing and totally exceeded our expectations. Before the trip, I was secretly hoping to see a lion but figured it probably wouldn't happen as they must be rare. Well, by the end of day 3 we had seen about 10 lions altogether! We also saw 3 cheetahs chilling out on the side of the road and watched them for a couple of hours, as well as lots of elephants, giraffes, etc. Of course, we were also lucky to catch The Great Migration, a time when millions of wildebeest and zebras migrate back north from Tanzania - it was quite the sight.

After a 3 days of driving around the park, we went to the next park on our itinerary, Amboseli.
