Dolomites (Fiera di Primiero) 2005
November 7, 2005

Got up very early and headed to our chosen trailhead. Passo Delle Lede (2695m) (#711 on map) was about 1500 meters elevation gain from the trailhead, and I started with high expectations. These expectations were exceeded by a factor of 100 and we had our minds blown away by the beauty. Once again, amazing rock walls surrounding us, full of climbing routes I'm sure. This place must be a rock climbing paradise. Very warm weather... shorts & tshirt all the way! There is a glacier close to where we got, but we didn't have time to get to it. I love the hiking here, the intermediate hiking trail had sections of easy scrambling with more fun than many Canadian Rockies peaks... topping out on a summit here seems to involve technical climbing in at least 90% of the time too.

Eventually we retreated back to the car, and made our way to Venice airport that evening to return the car. Fabio picked us up and treated us with a very nice traditional Italian dinner that his wife (Roberta) prepared - they were great hosts. And now I'm obsessed with tiramisu, thanks to Fabio... I will be back!!!

Check out Day I pictures from the other hike.
