Tokyo and Kamakura, Japan
November 11-17, 2008

A bunch of us went to Tokyo for a security conference and to give some tech talks at the Google office there. We also had a busy schedule of walking around every day and visiting many different places! Here are some of the pictures that we took (some are (c) Parisa).

Some notable places/things we saw:

  • Shibuya district, where our hotel was, a very happening place. Check out the story behind Hachiko!
  • Shinjuku, an area where we went for dinner and shopping.
  • Harajuku, famous for the Harajuku Girls and we visited a temple in the area.
  • Tsukiji - largest fish market in the world, that we visited at 5am on Friday.
  • Kamakura, where Mark Uemura kindly took us on a tour on Saturday, visiting a dozen temples (home of the giant Buddha). Also amazing sweet potato ice cream. :)
  • Shichi-Go-San festival, where 3- and 7-year old girls and 5-year old boys dress up in traditional kimonos.
  • An amazing Sushi restaurant Ryan and Mark took us to.
  • ... and I'm sure I'm missing many things!
