Weathering Heights, Planters Valley, South Ghost 2007

People: Peter, Dow

Very nice climb in my favourite valley. There is basically no sun in this valley, and it is usually pretty chilly as a result, so I really don't understand why I am attracted to it, but I keep coming back (4th of 5th time there). With the new snow we had, we had to break trail and it was a stumblefest with the snow hiding rocks underneath - about 2 hours to the base in these conditions.

The first pitch is is the steep one, and goes for a full rope length of nice climbing. The beginning can be thin. We found cold and hard ice after the recent -20 temperatures, very hooked out from previous traffic - still fun though. The 2nd pitch is shorter and some people bail at the end of the main flow, but you can keep going to a tree, making it a a total of two pitches, each 50-55m in length. Rappel from tree and then abalakovs to the ground.
