Whitsunday Islands sailing

After climbing at Frog, we worked our way up the coast until we got to the Whitsundays.

The highlight of the drive was Noosa Heads / Noosa National Park where did a nice 6-7km hike, first through the forest and walking back along the beach. Beautiful place!

We then stayed in Airlie Beach/Whitsundays for a couple of days, and did a 2 day/2 night sailing trip. This was the only "less than absolutely perfect" part of our trip, due to Prosail, the company that owns and operates the sailboat we were on. We wanted a private room and were otherwise going to go with another boat/company (knowing that most sail boats don't have the best sleeping arrangements). I suppose knowing this, they assured us that their boat Condor has two private rooms in the back, and we booked one of them. We actually asked twice to ensure we had booked the private room before paying, and double checked in the company's office afterwards - yup, we had the private room. The boat also only had 13 people on it (max capacity 29). The next day, "due to maintenance", another boat was down, and it coincidentally happened to have 16 people on it - so they merged the two boats, now at max capacity of 29. As a result, we were bumped from our private double room... and slept in the kitchen/galley. The crew were awesome and we did have a decent arrangements, but nobody could say it was a private room with a straight face. We nevertheless had an amazing time - who cares about sleeping, when you are in such a beautiful place. However, we expected an apology from the company and the offer to refund at least a symbolic part of the sum (although really, an apology would have been enough, we never asked for money back). When walking into the office upon our return from the trip, and asking about what happened - the company twisted the story to say that we had never actually asked for a private room - but instead, asked for "the most private room available". When I asked them to print our ticket (which used to say private double), they printed it - and it indeed say "most private double available" - they had changed the ticket!

We were not actually that frustrated up until this point - but the way they treated us and changed our ticket retroactively, is a sign of a sleazy operator that doesn't hesitate to put themselves above the customer. In many years of travelling this is the first time this has happened, and I felt compelled to share the story for those researching Prosail.

That aside (and just to reiterate, the crew and boat themselves were awesome!) - the Whitsundays are totally gorgeous, but of course super touristy (which is expected in a place like this). The highlights were Whitehaven beach and the dive that we did on the north end. Sailing back was super fun too, we were going fast!!!
